Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are typically spread through direct physical contact between partners during sexual activity. Chlamydia is one of the most frequently reported sexually transmitted diseases among the U.S population. These infections are increasing in prevalence among the U.S population, racking up astronomical bills for healthcare systems. A universally applicable screening practice or vaccine is not yet available for this infection to decline. Antibiotics are currently the only option for treating the symptoms of the problem, but they have not successfully stopped the spread. Given the rapidity with which this disease is spreading, a vaccine to slow it down is urgently required. Hence, we need your support to STOP THE SPREAD of chlamydia by signing this petition asking for urgent action from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to organize a research team to develop a vaccine for chlamydia.
