Advocate against the travesty that is trophy hunting!

Secretary of Interior, Ryan Zinke, the International Wildlife Conversation Council is promoting trophy hunting! He is misleading American’s on the world stage.

“The intended goal of the International Wildlife Conservation Council is not to protect rare and vulnerable species. Rather, it is to accommodate the desires of a miniscule subset of wealthy hobbyists who find entertainment in killing endangered wildlife. The majority of Americans want to see beloved species conserved through nonlethal methods…” (Representative Don Beyer).

Members of Congress once again need to hear your voice.  America’s outcry against hunting elephants was heard in November 2017 and again, your support is required to save elephants to show strong support against trophy hunting!

Elephants and other wildlife victim to trophy hunting face an upward challenge with the International Wildlife Conservation Council. Here are a few reasons why: 1) 100,000 elephants were killed in the past three years; 2)75% of killing takes place in Africa 3) 60% of the elephant population is lost due to illegal kills; 4) China’s ivory trade is a major market. [1]

The idea that killing more elephants will help save the species is counterintuitive. But the evidence that “hunting elephants saves them” is thin. The hunting-safari business employs few people, and the money from fees that trickles down to the villagers is insignificant. [2]

Trophy hunting accounts for less than 2% of revenue in Africa, negating the claim that trophy hunting helps their economy.[3]

Be the citizen that loves the outdoors, nature and wildlife.  Be the citizen that supports the protection of foreign wildlife, anti -poaching and illegal wildlife trafficking programs.

" Most Americans want to see international wildlife valued and protected via nonlethal methods. In fact, 86% of Americans oppose hunting big game (HBO Real Sports/Marist Poll), clearly indicating that this proposed council is not in the public interest. [4]  As members of Congress, we have a responsibility to ensure that the wishes of the majority of wildlife-loving Americans are upheld and that our government promotes the best global conservation policies. We urge the USFWS to dismantle its plans for the International Wildlife Conservation Council.” (Letter to Secretary Zinke, Dated January 16,2018).[5]

Your signature helps remind members of Congress how much we care for Elephants and their animal kin.  Thank you for signing as a show of your support against hunting these majestic creatures.  Your support has been crucial to the campaign.
