Why this petition matters

Hello,

American Citizens today are drowning in medical debt as it is, the reporting of medical debt to personal credit is destroying middle American families.

Medical bills are the reason of 62% of bankruptcies  according to a study by the American Journal of Medicine. Even more alarming, 80% of those who filed medical debt bankruptcy actually had health insurance and their debt was low ($18,000) compared to those who filed but didn't have health insurance ($27,000).

This debt was not voluntary,  99% of the time is is from needed medical procedures. Families with insurance pay their medical deductibles then get hit with thousands in bills from several different doctors or services that they were unaware of.

Congress has the power to stop this practice,  the POTUS has executive power to stop this practice and each states Governor and Senate has the ability to stop this practice.

Reporting of just one medical collection drops a credit score by upto 26 points. That collection could be as low as $1.00 upwards to tens of thousands.

A three digit score is chocking lower income families because they received medical help.

Help me stop this and help me have medical collection debt removed from everyone's credit history
