Stop the Re-zoning of over 2000 acres of Rural Land in Davidson
Growth is a necessary and vital part of every community but in order to maintain quality of life for the residents of Davidson, it must be managed and executed in an effective way. We, the undersigned citizens of Davidson, disagree that a mass rezoning is required for effective growth. We ask that the Town Board of Commissioners vote no on the mass rezoning and text amendments to the planning ordinance, which is planned for a vote on March 14.
- Town of Davidson Board of Commissioners
Honorable Mr. Mayor and Esteemed Town Commissioners,
As Citizens of Davidson we have been on a journey with you regarding the RAP. We have been listening and sharing perspectives directly and through friends with you all and town staff. We have reviewed the proposed Text and Map Amendments. Our concerns with the process remain focused on the speed of the process and the size of the town area impacted by the proposed changes. We believe in a Slower Phased Approach that gives us as a town and as citizens the opportunity to rezone (amendments and maps changes) in phases to allow us to measure and adjust for any unintended consequences (especially traffic) discovered in early phases before the next phases are approved. There is no compelling reason why we need to rush and do it all in one package. We believe in a 'Go Slow' development option. Faced with voting either YES or NO, and not having a slow option at this time, we recommend NO.
Attached is a petition supporting this position supported by 730 citizens of our community.
Please accept it as input for your consideration prior to the vote planned for Tuesday March 28, 2017.
