Patrick Dougherty started this petition to Stop the pre-release center in downtown Pottsville

In the words of Pottsville  City councilman  Mark Atkinson, Placing a pre-release prison in the business district of downtown Pottsville would be putting a nail in the coffin of the cities attempts to revitalize The business district. The city is Currently in discussion with investors for a hotel at the recently vacated Giant on progress Avenue in Pottsville.

The Dougherty, Curry and Coleman families All former residence of Pottsville who have contributed to the community in many ways feel very committed to this cause to stop the  county commissioners from taking what has been the site of a business location for decades away from the business district in the City of Pottsville.
Please allow our city council members and the Pottsville business Association time to do their due diligence in finding an appropriate tenant for the space! Sincerely the Dougherty  Curry and Coleman families.

Our father Francis M Dougherty MD was proud member of a thriving professional district on the west side of Garfield Square from 1947 until his retirement in 1983.

Our brother-in-law Dr. Tom Curry established Schuylkill pediatrics in the early 80s and that business has continued to thrive in the city.

Patrick Dougherty managed properties for Kenson Realty on the 300 block of N. Center St. from 1980 to 2012. This block is an example of how investing in and maintaining the properties in downtown Pottsville can be a profitable venture… All buildings are occupied with a combination of commercial and residential Tenants.

We believe regardless of where we live Pottsville will always be our Hometown.

we have always been proud of Pottsville and would hope that we can still hold our heads up high when telling someone we are from the county seat of the Southern Coal region, Pottsville Pennsylvania
