Stop the Parking Lots on Broussard Street!
St. Joseph’s Academy (3015 Broussard Street) is once again applying to the Planning and Zoning Commission to make parking lots out of the 3 vacant residential lots across from SJA on Broussard Street between Kenmore Avenue and Parker Street, in the Broussard Oaks neighborhood. These lots, along with the rest of our neighborhood, are zoned A1 residential and are adjacent to 5 residential homes.
We believe that the addition of these lots will negatively impact our entire neighborhood, not just the properties immediately adjacent to them. The parking lots will lead to a reduction in property values, an increase in traffic and noise, and the overall decline of the quality of life in our entire neighborhood. The creation of these parking lots will also increase the likelihood that St. Joseph’s will continue to expand its footprint into the residential areas of our neighborhood.
SJA applied to Planning and Zoning in 2009 with this same plan. The neighborhood was successful in stopping the parking lots in our neighborhood then. Please add your name to this petition to help us stop the parking lots again and help this area remain a beautiful, peaceful residential neighborhood.
