Stop the Misuse of ICWA

The Indian Child Welfare Act was created to help address the issue of mass removal of Indian children from reservations. Native children were being placed in boarding schools and in non-native homes at a disturbing rate. While the law is well-intended, the reality is in many cases the best interest of children is taking a back seat to political agendas. It is important that Congress understand how the law is being applied in the 21st century. Amendments can be made to the law to help strengthen its application and ensure that misuse and misapplication is minimized. The harsh realities of years ago shouldn't have to rest on the shoulders of children today.

Please support amendments to the Indian Child Welfare Act to help minimize the misapplication of the law at the detriment of a child's best interest and constitutional rights.
