This problem is similar to display TVs in stores having all the settings maxed out to attract eyeballs with no concern for how much it ruins the image, only with music you can't fix it by simply adjusting the settings because the recording itself is at fault; it has be pre-distorted and no amount of fiddling with EQ settings will help.

Why put all the time, money, and effort into a recording if the quality is going to be compromised in the end, anyway? We have volume knobs. Soon, shuffled songs on any playback device will be normalized to equal volume. There will be no benefit to a loud master, and more people will avoid the music with a lessened dynamic range.

Dynamic music has more feel, more punch than compressed music. IT SHOULD BE CHANGED.

SO MUCH TO SAY… BASICALLY: ON THIS WAR EVERYBODY WILL LOOSE. THE ARTIST, THE “CONSUMER”… AND THE “INDUSTRY”. THE INDUSTRY WILL ALSO LOOSE BECAUSE EXCELLENCY ON PRODUCTION AND MEDIA IS WHAT MAKES PEOPLE PREFER ORIGINAL RECORDS/LEGAL MUSIC FILES. BAD ORIGINAL RECORDINGS ARE NO COMPETITION FOR PIRATED/ILLEGAL COPIES OR FILES.
"COMPRESSION" SHOULD BE AN "ON/OFF" BUTTON ON PLAYERS, NOT A MANDATORY FEATURE ON RECORDINGS. IT MAKES NO SENSE TO RUIN THE RECORDING FOR EVERYBODY WHEN IT CAN BE DONE OPTIONALLY BY EACH MUSIC FAN, ACCORDING TO HIS OWN TASTE.
