Why this petition matters

Stop the erasing of the Native Americans from history. Winnacunnet High School in Hampton New Hampshire has honored and respected the Native Americans who were here before us. Winnacunnett was a Native American village, when settlers arrived it was empty ( they think small pox) Hampton has always honored that village and those who came before us. We named our high school after a Native American word for place of beautiful tall pines. The mascot is a Native American Indian Warrior. T. We are the Warriors. Having a Native American as our mascot ensures their story is told. Every field a "warrior" walks on we honor the heritage. They display the symbol of a proud, noble and strong Native American. We are now under attack. 2 former students from 6 years ago have petitioned for removal of all Native American symbols from our school.Every arrow, every feather, every bead.  It is horrible enough that we have forced their removal from society, now they want to erase any evidence they were even here? How is this not racist to erase the existence of a race?Where are the symbols of Native Americans in our society today, How are they represented? I also suggested they contact the local tribes to ask if they would like to redesign our Warriros to honor them. Why erase them from history?  Please sign our petition to save the Winnacunnet Warriors and the Native American symbol of pride.
