Hello, I made this petition to influence change in Glenforest regarding the consumption of addictive substances in our school. This petition aims to reach out to as many people as possible and show the school that students in our school want to change. Drug abuse is a that is present in our school. This is because you can frequently smell marijuana when passing by the restroom, which is illegal for people of high school age. Furthermore, while using the washroom, it is not uncommon to encounter someone vaping or smoking in the bathroom. This is a severe problem because the consumption of drugs can lead to addiction and drive a student of the academic road, resulting in increasing rates of dropouts and even death. Moreover, more students are exposed to these substances as they are most often used in ordinary places, such as the bathroom. Thus, people who otherwise never would have consumed such substances might become peer pressured or curious to go to the bathroom. Undoubtedly, the drug problem in our school is a severe problem which is why several solutions are needed to combat the drug problem in our school. I think that several changes need to be implemented. Firstly, adding smoke detectors and vape detectors in washrooms is essential. This is because they will be able to detect students smoking, thus eliminating one of the most common safe spots for smoking. Secondly, it is crucial to encourage students to quit via posters and assemblies and provide them with the resources required to fight their addiction, such as therapy. In short, we need to fight drug abuse in Glenforest, until it gets out of control.
