Many cities in the United Stated have recently made it illegal to own pit bulls, as well as over 50 breeds of dogs that are similar to pit bulls. Pit bulls in these cities are taken away from their owners and euthanized, while the owners are punished for having an illegal dog, even though the dog didn't do anything wrong.

We urge you to please reverse the breed specific legislation, which recently made it illegal to own pit bulls, as well as over 50 breeds of dogs that are similar to pit bulls, in many of US cities. Pit bulls in these cities are taken away from their owners and euthanized, while the owners are punished for having an illegal dog, even though the dogs didn't do anything wrong. Hundreds of dogs have been euthanized so far, and many more will be if this continues. Even if a dog looks like a pit bull but is not one, they have been taken away and euthanized. Several of the euthanized dogs were service dogs. The owners desperately tried to get their dogs back but many have been unable to do so.
Dogs cannot speak for themselves but we can speak for them. Please help us do the humane thing and reverse the breed specific legislature.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
