Why this petition matters

Started by Carlyn younie

Please help us stop the destruction of more Florida Wetlands! A rezoning application has been placed to rezone 40 acres of currently zoned USDA land. If granted, the new zoning would be MPUD, allowing 107 homes to be built on this land. This will displace hundreds of Florida’s wildlife - deers, gopher tortoises, birds, gators, etc.. Many of these species are already threatened and have been displaced from other community developments, these 40 acres are their last resort.

The burning and destruction of these wetlands and trees will further pollute our beautiful community. This new development will cause new soil settling, sinkholes, air quality issues, property devaluation, overcrowding, traffic issues - the list goes on.

Our schools are currently so overwhelmed and overcrowded the bus schedules needed to be changed to accommodate the influx. Numerous accidents and traffic jams have made Lake Patience impassible during certain times of day. 107 homes will exacerbate these issues even more.

Please join us to stopping this destruction! Please sign this petition below and join us at the Dade City courthouse on July 7th at 1:30pm.
Thank you for helping us protect our wildlife and community!
