The Issue

This is more than important; it’s imperative that the AI center does not come here. I have watched with mounting concern as similar projects have taken root around the world and brought with them a host of unintended consequences. These AI centers, purported to bring innovation and economic growth, have instead disrupted communities, displaced local businesses, and increased surveillance, thereby infringing on privacy.

Our community has worked hard to maintain its unique character, built on trust, cooperation, and sustainability. The proposed AI center threatens not only our way of life but the very fabric that holds our community together. We would be doing our community a disservice by not standing up to reject the intrusion of corporate interests that prioritize profit over people.

Communities worldwide have already experienced the negative impacts of such projects. Studies have shown increased gentrification, a spike in housing prices, and a widening economic disparity. For example, in another region, a similar project caused average rent to skyrocket by 30% in just two years, putting housing out of reach for many long-time residents.

Public consultations have been minimal, and there is a concerning lack of transparency about how this development will impact our environment and health. We deserve a say in the decisions that affect our lives. This is not just a personal issue for me; it should resonate with everyone who values community cohesion and sustainable development.

Let's not wait until it’s too late. Let’s band together to protect our community and preserving its future. Join me in calling for a halt to the AI center project until its full impacts can be assessed democratically with the community's input. Sign the petition to make your voice heard. Together, we can make a difference.
