Anyone who has a menstrual cycle knows the pain that we as women suffer through. The excruciating pain that comes every single month of the year, which is notably something we didn’t ask for. We as people living in the United States of America need to start recognizing that these are basic necessities to live.
         The spike in menstrual cycle products is astronomical. Women should not have to pay $10 for menstrual products. The government makes money off of our pain but it doesn’t have to be like that anymore. We can make a difference and change how the future is for women growing up in America.
         The average woman uses about six tampons per day for approximately a week. A generic box of 36 tampons is $7 at basic drug stores, which we have to buy every single month to control our cycle. This doesn’t include pain medication or other preferences including pads or any other sanitary product. That number is just for tampons alone.
           These are the bare necessities and should not be held above us as if it’s only something we can have if we can afford it. In America it’s a luxury to be able to have basic needs. You can make a difference and you can be the change.
