Good morning. Thank you for reading my petition today. I migrated to Canada in 2017, and so far I would like to say that the journey has been nothing short of wonderful. But today I write this petition with a heavy heart because of an issue that has come to my attention.

Canada provides for freedom of conscience, religion, thought, belief, opinion, and expression. I have always felt respected, protected and equal to everyone I have met here. However, my belief in the Canadian tolerance for all religions was challenged today when I was trying to book a movie ticket today, and I saw the movie “Conversion” being screened at Landmark Cinemas in Kanata, Ontario. This is an agenda driven movie that degrades and showcases the Indian Muslim community in poor light. Muslims in Canada have coexisted with other communities in peace for the longest time. The basic social fabric of Canada is knitted with secularism, however when people see this movie, it will become the cause of disharmony between the various communities. This movie is definitely not in line with what Canada represents as a country.

I urge you to please have this movie removed from the cinemas across Canada to ensure that the Muslim community in Canada remains safe and protected. I would also request you to ensure that movies are screened in advance by a committee to ensure that no such movie is released again.
