Chennai Central, the name stays strong with the memories of the Red and White Indo Saracenic building. Is there a real need to change the name of the station? How can a 146-year-old historic station be renamed after an individual?

It is a landmark in the history of Railways and an identity of our city and hence should not be renamed after an Individual, considering the renaming of Victoria terminal in Maharashtra, it is done on the note of preserving their rich history, heritage and to glorify the great, such is not the case with the Chennai Central. The name of Chennai Central is deeply rooted in the hearts of every individual. An event of renaming could be a disaster leading to confusion among the commuters. Changing the name now will set a wrong notion of changing names of many other elements in the country and the trend of renaming will continue

This is written just as a cry voicing out the view of several people who have a million memories associated with our Chennai Central and wouldn’t accept the change in the name This act of being against the proposal of changing the name does not mean to disrespect any individual of any kind in any manner. The individuals who has done good for the society can be remembered or admired by naming the new schemes, projects and many more but Changing the name of Chennai's emotion is unjust.
