Don't be fooled by their refusal to engage - they are taking notice. Fleetingly there was a notice on the cafe page of their website explaining that the reason they sell meat and dairy etc is because they are not a vegetarian company, though a lot of their staff are veg*n. That notice was soon taken down, I imagine because it inspired people to ask them why. The statement that has now replaced it makes their motivation very clear: "As a leading Centre for Animal Welfare we are committed to delivering the highest standards of animal welfare to the animals in our care. Profits from our café form a significant contribution towards the funding of these services. As such our policy is to be inclusive and cater for all sections of society, providing extensive vegetarian and vegan options whilst sourcing any meat and dairy from local, high welfare farming systems."
Inclusive???? Vegan food is good for everyone! You can't get more inclusive than that! They perpetuate shocking lies (that farming and slaughter can ever be humane) while admitting that they do it for the money. We are getting to them, it's only a matter of time. This is a battle of wills that the animals can't afford for us to lose.
Please write to them every week and explain that we're not complaining because we're hungry - we don't want "vegan options" - we want them to stop paying for animals to be farmed and killed. Full stop.
