Eating disorders affect an estimated 5 million people in the United States. As many as 1 in 7 women with anorexia will die from the disease. Online communities help to keep eating disorders strong. They encourage dangerous behaviors and teach newcomers "tips and tricks" on how to better become eating disordered. These websites create poisonous and addictive communities of people reliant on their illnesses and need to be prohibited in order to keep the online community safe. The "bones are beautiful" approach to beauty ideals must be put to an end and banning these sites is an important step forward to a healthier society.
