Living in a residential street I was surprised to find that an application had been presented on the house next door.  At present it is a private house but will be turned into a private childrens home with no information or consultation process involved at any point. 

The need for children's homes should be up for debate as so many that were once council run have been closed and children just moved around. Two homes in our area have been closed that were once council owned. The homes are still available but are empty and boarded up, needing only to be refurbished for the safe arrival of children who need care.

We ourselves are ex foster carers so understand the network of people that will be involved with looked after children. This will dramatically increase the traffic and parked cars in the immediate area. If there are antisocial problems relating to this care home it will be very difficult to revoke this change of use on the property.

The person that is in the process of buying this house lives 115 miles away and will be nowhere near to this house and any potential problems as a result of the property becoming a residential children's home. 

We feel complete set adrift with a process that is secretive with no legal requirement to communicate and consult with a community prior to formal approval of proposals of this type. It is purely by chance that we were made aware that this application had been made and was being considered.
