stop police seizing non dangerous dogs!
Why this petition matters
Police came to our family home as a neighbour reported feeling threatened after two of our American XL Bullys had accidentally got into there garden through a week spot in the fence whilst i was at work. No animal or person was hurt in this incident and all dogs returned back into our house at there own will as they were indoors when i returned after dozens of missed calls from No Caller ID and a voicemail left saying to contact 101 immediately.
We understand that it is the owners responsibility to keep there dogs contained at all times, but accidents do happen and surely you should not be punished like this. Just because a dogs big it does not mean that they are dangerous. We know they may come across in that way to someone that isn’t used to dogs like ours but surely it could of been dealt more amicably.
They had assault rifles, shotguns and electric shields!? Unbelievable. They’ve literally taken all our dogs under Section 3 of the Dangerous Dog Act 1991. They haven’t told us where they were taking them or when or if we’ll be getting them back. This is so wrong! My 4 year old daughter is left with them all the time and can control them by herself! (Get them to come, sit, paw, fetch and feeds them regularly by hand).
We hope that they release them quickly as it’s breaking our hearts not knowing what the outcome is going to be! Me and my daughters are all devastated and pray for a safe return of our much loved and cared for pets! Anyone with any large breed of dog please be careful make sure your dogs cannot get into anyone else’s garden!
Due to the feedback we’ve had from people this has happened to many other dog owners. They have been left with no information and an indefinite time as to when or if they will get there dogs back! Surely this law needs to be reviewed as our dogs have not harmed anyone and they’ve taken them all not just the two that were deemed to be the threat! The dogs can be kept for such long periods of time that often when they are returned to there owners they are unrecognisable (underweight, ill health, general mannerisms/behaviour) and problems have arisen due to them being kept in such an environment for so long. We have heard too many horror stories like this and we think it’s time something changes.
Please sign and share if you agree! We hope and pray that our dogs are returned as soon as possible and in the state they got taken in!
