As a regulator of coal mining in Pennsylvania, Pizarchik has a long history of making pro-industry decisions at the expense of protecting communities and the environment.

In a controversial vote last week, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee confirmed Pizarchik, even as calls for the White House to withdraw the nomination mounted from environmental groups and hundreds of concerned citizens from coal-mining states.
