This move is a perfect example of a false economy. It will cost less in the short term, but ultimately will cost the school system more as well as cause more harm to the local economy. I also agree that it will create a safety risk to our children.

It may save money but will our children have a clean safe buiding to learn in,they have tried this before and it didn't work.Think of more than 350 or more people out of work. that can't find other jobs, think of their families.

This is the second time this poor man has proposed a big change in KCS. First time, classroom teacher layoffs. That didn't happen but it got everybody upset and stirred up. Now comes this custodial work outsourcing scheme. That is not now happening, but everybody is stirred up again. I am starting to think the Superintendent either is incompetent, or has no real plan, or both.

Once again we are trying to "save money" by depriving low income workers of their job. You know the companies that are from out of state and are bidding on these jobs are not going to hire local people at this same wage level. You are just adding to the homeless population and the folks that are loosing their homes through foreclosure.

Outsourcing jobs, whether to other countries or to private companies with no investment in our community, local citizens or quality of services, harms everyone except the owners of the private companies. It's morally and ethically wrong and it only creates further problems.

When jobs are outsources, quality of service drops. Local people who already receive low wages are replaced by people who will work for even lower wages without having any investment in the work they're doing.

Please do not outsource these jobs.

This is a short sighted solution and will, has, ended up costing us more int he long run. Cut administrative excess first.
