Solstice/Kettler apartments outrageous rent increase.
I’m starting this petition because Solstice and Kettler management team and property manager has significantly increased the rent at the Solstice apartments regardless of being in the midst of a pandemic. Solstice apartments located at 3534 east Capitol St NE, Washington DC 20019.
Residents rent has increased drastically with only a 30 day notice even despite some tenants being on a 12 month lease agreement.
Since 2020 most residents of the Solstice where switch from 12 month leases to month to month leases by the property manager upon renewal without their knowledge. They claim that there are no 12 month leases available due to Covid however that is a lie. This is just wrong.
I believe the reason they switch over leases to month to month unbeknownst to residents because it was a calculated move from management to increase the rent of the residents. I’m aware that on month to month you can increase rent anytime. Some residents where mislead to thinking The solstice apartments was according to income.
Also on Solstice’s website it is stated that this is a affordable living apartment and there are tax credits. Which is false advertisement. Kettler management and company has been misleading residents.
Aside from that, the market rent for this area doesn’t match the increase. The Solstice building also have not made any improvements since 2019 to propose a rent increase. Many of us are dealing with many issues in our apartments and the building itself. Many of resident complaints go unresolved. Issues and problems aren’t addressed properly.
The issues we face within this building breaches their lease agreement to residents. (Please ask for and read over your leases).
