Stop Oak Valley North Project in Calimesa, Say No to More Warehouses

The Issue

Stop the Oak Valley North Project. This  industrial project affects the off-ramp of Singleton Road, Interstate 10, Calimesa BLVD, and Beckwith Ave.

The proposal  will have a direct and damaging environmental, ecological and infrastructure impact to the local residents of Calimesa, Cherry Valley, Beaumont and other residents of the San Gorgonio Pass. We oppose any more installations of warehouses.  Calimesa and Beaumont areas cannot handle the infrastructure issues that more warehouses will bring.

The residents of the proposed surrounding areas already suffer from major traffic and infrastructure issues. The proposed location and off-ramps are adjacent to the freeway has THREE lanes which become heavily gridlocked throughout the day during peak hours due to the incline and the amount of semi trucks coming through. Other plans have already begun for the Bircher development directly on the other side of the freeway.

Over 95+ acres of land is proposed for warehouses, less than 15 acres is proposed for housing and a church. Yes, in order to push this proposal through they make sure to appeal to residents by highlighting that some of the land *could be* a church. They also attempt to appeal to the county by saying it will provide more housing. But at the end of the day, the main proposal is that they want to bring warehouses and more pollution to our towns.

This proposal will not provide our area with jobs as many of the warehouses built sit empty for years. It will bring noise, pollution and traffic to our local retirement communities which happen to sit right next to the proposed area. Increasing smog and air quality of semi-rural area. Pollution that will harm our medically compromised, our children and our retirees.

By decimating the natural habit of the area and putting in more concrete we are raising temperatures, pollution and killing off local wildlife.

Many residents relocated to the area of Calimesa and Beaumont because it’s peaceful and rural surroundings

We oppose the building and the zoning of more warehouses in Calimesa, Beaumont & Cherry Valley.

The county of Riverside profits off of our special taxes and increased tax rates in the surrounding area of its residents but wants to destroy the very reason why residents enjoy living here. They want their cake but want to eat it too while allowing industrial complexes to eviscerate any sense of rural lands we have left.

We are calling for the end of zoning to any new industrial complexes that include warehouses in the area of Calimesa, Beaumont and Cherry Valley.

We don’t need to pave paradise and put up a parking lot. (Counting Crows)
