Outdoors Contractors Inc. is requesting a special exception to convert the field located next to the railroad track in Cascade, Md. to a village lot. This would enable Dollar General to build on the lot. Destroying this field and the natural habitat it provides to the area and especially the adjacent property is unnecessary. There is a lot with a building on it, zoned commercial, available a few hundred feet from the field site. That lot was the location of Decker’s Store. It will provide a better sight line of traffic during entrance or exit from a store/business. It also has water and sewer connections in place.  Building on the field will create an increase for accidents because the railroad crossing impedes visual of traffic exit or entrance to a business.
