Why this petition matters

Started by Katie Mullin

I live in the Northeast of Philadelphia, PA.  A corner store at the intersection of Frankford Ave. and Gilham St.  has become a hub for crime.  It's time to shut it down!

The corner store at first was welcomed since the property has been vacant for many years prior. After it opened, the issues started with small violations such as improper disposal of the store's garbage causing CLIP to send out citations and health violations given by the state. As the store attracted more people,  traffic disruptions began by people blocking the street by double parking or pulling onto the curb blocking the view of oncoming traffic. More recently the store had the Pennsylvania Skills machine taken by someone breaking into the store overnight. In the last few weeks, there are groups of young males hanging out front of the store blatantly dealing drugs along with the people that work in the store. Now on October 12th, 2022 multiple shots were fired at the store.

Before the innocent citizens of the surrounding blocks and neighborhood get hurt, this store must be shut down. The store has not served as a benefit to the community and has now become the center of criminal activity.

This location needs to be closed permanently so that we can start making progress toward making our community safer!
