My son currently can not attend school due to severe anxiety. We have every referral in place that we can think of to get him help and hopefully a autism diagnosis. The school will not provide him with school work and neither will the Local Authority. The local authority put as many obstacles in the way - many referrals we’ve been told has to have medical evidence but not from his GP somewhere like CYPS or a paediatrician- the current referral waiting times is over a year. 
why can’t they accept evidence from GP as this is easier to obtain. Some parents pay for private referrals for the likes of autism assessments but these are rejected by the local authority they will only look at NHS referrals again the parents are waiting for anywhere over a year. 
All we want is an education for my child and no one can do that even though it’s in the Education Act - shame on my local authority as they are not just failing my child but many others.
