As a pit bull parent, I cannot fathom the hate and disdain they receive for being labeled as an "aggressive" breed. With the proper care and some mild training, my pit bull Sophie has been the most loving companion I have ever had the privilege to spend my years with. The misconception of "aggressive" breeds is that they're hostile and terrible dogs by nature. However, with the proper care, love and training any dog has the ability to be a good dog. I believe that by being proactive, loving your pit bull, or any other dog, and giving them the training they deserve, they can be anyone's companion. Sophie loves and gets along very well with all animals, people and children. I strongly believe that I should not have to give her up or struggle to find a home for us just because of the stereotype. It should not be allowed for apartment complexes and other places to ban a breed just because they are labeled "aggressive".
