Why this petition matters

On November 3rd, 2022, two students from GCIT were expelled for something that was out of their control.

(no names are being used.)

in the morning on Thursday, November 3rd, three girls went into the bathroom near the east gym. there were four people in the bathroom, three were doing their makeup in the mirror and one was in the stall. Mrs Bryant, one of the gym teachers, walked into the bathroom, washed her hands and left. when she came back. she was with Mrs Rhea, another gym teacher. both of them told the three girls to come with them to the office due to "reasonable suspicion". when the three girls got to the office, they were searched. one owned up to having a vape in her pocket, but claims she hasnt touched it since she put it in her pocket before she left for school. when the girls were searched by Mrs Ford (their princple), and Mrs McPeak (the assitant princple), they found nothing in their backpacks. the three girls were sent to the nurses office shortly after to get a sobriety test, and they all passed. after that, when they got back to the office, two of the students were informed that they were getting expelled from GCIT. (please be aware that they were caught in the bathrrom a few weeks before in the bathrrom, and signed a contract saying they wouldnt get into any more trouble.) one of the other students was suspended. they were all sent out for a drug test, and two passed (the two girls that got expelled). this is unfair to them and the other students at GCIT because they did not violate anything on the contract that they signed. they passed the drug tests, sobriety tests, and are only being kicked out because Mrs. Bryant thought they were doing "inappropriate activities" in the bathroom when in reality, they were fixing their makeup before the first bell rang. the other student in the bathroom, that was in the stall, was never called out, was never searched, and never got sent out for a sobriety/drug test. this is inconvenient for them because since they have been expelled, this is ruining their future and their careers. please sign this petition to help get them back into GCIT and not let their futures be ruined due to a misunderstanding in the bathroom.
