Every year legislators continue to earn a 6 figure salary for spending our tax dollars but when we run dry they opt to print more or borrow more. Both of which impose the invisible tax of inflation on the working class. Every year both sides of the aisle vote to give themselves a pay raise, refusing to acknowledge the effects their reckless spending for their constituency. 

I’m proposing that for every year the legislature approves over-budget spending that requires printing or borrowing of money, they must forego any increase in their salary or benefits and take a 5% decrease in their pay- Forcing the legislature to be held accountable for their spending by removing their ability to offset the effects of their own decisions.
