As you know, Wirral Council has had its budget slashed by £225 million since 2010. Over a decade of Conservative austerity have placed Wirral Council finances in a difficult position.

The Conservative government is instructing Wirral Council to make a further £19 million of cuts this year.

In identifying ways of creating income or implementing cuts, one of the proposals by Wirral Council officers is to increase the charges significantly you pay for resident parking permits.

Residents parking schemes are in place in areas where there is a shopping centre or venues that would make it hard for residents in that area to get a parking space by their home.

You should not have to pay increased charges to be able to park outside your home. This charge would be unfair and would cause more pressure at a time when costs of living are rising.

As your Labour candidate for May's local elections, I will do everything in my power to stop this unfair increase.
