Why this petition matters

Started by Chantelle Hall

The adult mental health services are thinly stretched these days and therefore harder to access- but this is increasingly endangering the lives of people suffering with mental ill health. People are constantly being ignored and pushed to the side, or at best shoved on a year long waiting list when in a crisis and it HAS TO STOP!

By signing this petition, you are aiding us in bringing the issues surrounding mental health services to light, and helping us to help the government understand the severity of the situation with mental health in the UK and encourage them to take action.

In 2020, 4912 people took their own lives. This increased to 5219 people in 2021.

Every year, the number of adults that commit suicide in the UK rises, and yet mental health services continue to deteriorate.

Along side this petition, we are hoping to collect a number of personal stories and experiences with poor mental health services or treatment in the UK. By doing this we hope to show the government that we are not just a statistic on a bit of paper, but we’re in fact all human beings with a life and feelings and loved ones, and we deserve to be heard.
