Why this petition matters

Started by Asher JUDAH

The City of Monash has circulated a Structure Plan document outlining a redesign of the Mount Waverley Village and surrounding streets.

A driving factor behind the redesign is the Labor State Government’s policy for the suburb of Mount Waverley to accommodate a greater share of Melbourne’s population growth. A review of the planning document has revealed:

·        Eight storey apartment towers at the Mount Waverley Village;

·        Five storey towers overshadowing the Maternal & Child Health Centre and Mount Waverley Kindergarten near Sherwood Park; and

·        3-4 storey apartments within surrounding residential streets.

This Plan represents a direct threat to the 'Garden City' character of Mount Waverley’s suburban streets. If it proceeds, the Mount Waverley Village will have high rise towers like the Box Hill and Glen Waverley shops.

Labor's plan for high rise in Mount Waverley can only be stopped if the community says NO with a loud and clear voice.

The petitioners call on the Labor State Government to reject the City of Monash's proposal AND call on the Council to conduct a proper community consultation process.

Sign the petition if you agree.
