Provide emergency housing for homeless Australians in Sydney

Australians sleeping rough in the vicinity of Sydney's Central Station, in particular Aboriginal Australians, are the targets of violent attacks by a “Neo-Nazi” group described as wearing swastika adorned clothing. The group allegedly stalks this area late at night when homeless outreach services are not present.
Even though these crimes were reported to the Surry Hills Police, they haven’t investigated them claiming lack of evidence. The homeless people in the area are afraid for their lives as hate crimes against them continue unabated.
While the police have failed to intervene and help, there is another way to support the most vulnerable in our communities - by bolstering support services for the homeless.
Shelter NSW has found that 50% of the people in need of Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) don’t receive the accommodation they need. I’m calling on the NSW government to increase funding to the already overstretched SHS sector with a focus on urgent provision of emergency housing for people whose safety is at immediate risk.
