Stop GP Surgeries hiding behind closed doors and telephone appointments
Anyone who has had to use A&E at any hospital recently will clearly see the staff there are overwhelmed. I believe this is due to the fact GPs seem to be the only industry; post pandemic who have not returned to normal operations. GP surgeries are still hiding behind telephone appointments, with very few face to face appointments (if you are lucky) and the increase of misdiagnosis as GPs are not examining patients physically (which has happened to my family twice recently).
Recently having to use A&E for my 14 year old son, I was stunned to see the queue for support at my local hospital A&E department, which came out of the building and onto the pavement. Many patients in the queue needed access to a GP and not accident and emergency services. Due to the sheer number of people queuing, some patients who arrived by ambulance had to also queue. It was clear the majority of patients in A&E, once triaged, were referred to the emergency GP at the hospital and not A&E.
To all the GPs hiding behind closed doors and telephone appointments, forcing people go to A&E to get any form of support - SHAME ON YOU! Why are GP’s allowed to continue to hide behind closed doors and therefore causing an unmanageable and overwhelming workload for staff at hospitals?
This needs to change – Lets make change happen!
