Stop giving children confusing messages about their gender. Let them be children.

Stop giving children confusing messages about their gender. Let them be children.
We are a group of parents and educators who believe that we should live in an inclusive society where all types of people, gay, bisexual and transgender are accepted and welcomed.
We are also extremely concerned about the gender self-identification in children / teenagers, and the impact it is having. We are also concerned that many parents feel excluded, with the schools taking control of the conversation without the involvement of the parents.
Children and young teens don’t know who they will become as adults. Studies say that between 60-90% of teenagers who want to change their gender change their views when they reach young adulthood. We want to avoid the situation of children and young teens creating irreversible changes in their bodies through hormones and surgery. Changes they could later deeply regret.
We believe that:
- schools should avoid the practice of teaching gender self-identification until the age of 14. Until that time boys should be identified as boys and girls should be identified as girls, whether they are straight, bisexual, gay, or undecided
- no hormone or surgical interventions should be allowed without parental consent
- puberty blocking hormones be administered under very carefully assessed circumstances
- cross sex hormones be permitted only after the age of 18
- cross sex surgical intervention be permitted only after the age of 18
Let’s give children and teens a chance to be children / teens and freely explore the world around them without making irreversible changes that they might later regret!
