WhatsApp, Please Limit Abuse Of Groups & Forwards

WhatsApp messenger makes it convenient to instantly share information and media with friends, family, and co-workers. However, the app also exposes its users to several risks and lacks common sense checks and balances.
Jan Koum, please work on these ASAP.
#1: Groups Need To Be Consent-Based
Individuals can be added to any WhatsApp group without their consent. One of the worst forms of WhatsApp abuse was reported in the Indian media recently. Journalist Ravish Kumar was the target of right-wing hate group operators. Ravish was bombarded with hateful messages and death threats. Each time he left the group, he was added right back. This needs to stop. Nobody should be allowed to add me to a group without my consent.
#2: Make It Harder To Send Mass Forwards
It is easy to mass-forward messages on WhatsApp to multiple persons and groups by just ticking them on the recipient list. While this is a useful feature, it has been abused to enable the large-scale spread of misinformation, fake news, hoaxes, rumours, hate, and misogyny. WhatsApp mass forwards target minority groups in India. Create some checks and balances within the app. Make it more difficult to mass-circulate forwards.
