Twitch was once a place of awe and wonder, where a young person with a dream could come and do things they never thought possible. Twitch stood for artistic expression through a form young people in our society know and love - gaming. When Twitch first rose in popularity as a streaming platform it drove those with creative interest to do what they could only dream of accomplishing in years prior. The same "gaming" platform that inspired many those years ago has since fallen from grace. The same brilliant minds who once saw the platform as a refuge are now punished for outlandish reasons, while those that bring revenue are allowed to do as they please without a care in the world. Twitch now operates on a three strike policy, but only for those who bring them no money. Larger streamers that bring in profits for the company are too often given extra chances, or never even penalized at all. To add to the unfair punishment of smaller streamers, there is an incentive for those who would breach the terms of service, specifically those who create sexually suggestive content. These creators are given their own categories, and their behavior is encouraged. This wouldn't be such an issue if there weren't so many children on the website. This repetitive exposure will doubtlessly lead plenty of adolescents into porn addictions at young ages. It's foolish that a "gaming" platform could stand for this disgusting behavior. More than any demographic video games are targeted toward minors and it is an atrocity that a website with such an emphasis on an industry flooded by minors allows their site to be used to exploit children. Today all I ask of you is to add your voice to the collective and push for equality in the right to create on this massive platform and the protection of youth from the harmful content that is shamelessly promoted for the sole purpose of making a profit.
