USDA sides with Industry in rule draft
Jan 15, 2020 —
On Monday, the USDA published the draft of the Undue Preference rule that we’ve been working on for months. We had hoped that this rule would offer some protections for farmers who chose to speak out against abusive industry practices. Instead, the USDA chose to protect Industry and make it more difficult for farmers who want to speak out.
This is the time we’ve been talking about. Now you can tell the USDA to stand up for farmers, animals, and the environment by making a comment on this rule.
This rule allows Industry to continue practices that are “customary in the industry.” As we all know this industry is rife with exploitative practices. For too long Industry has been allowed to self-police, and the result is a system that profits from the exploitation of land, people, and animals. These practices should not be protected by regulations, but rather prohibited by regulations.
Take a stand! Make your voice heard by clicking on the link below and making a comment. We’ve provided some guidance on a comment, but feel free to add something personal and tell the USDA why this is important to you. Share this link with your friends and family. This is an important moment in the regulation of this industry and you can be the difference.
