I have been enjoying the tennis at Wimbledon this week, but I was shocked to see all the players drinking out of disposable plastic Evian water bottles. If Evian wants to sponsor Wimbledon the Lawn Tennis Association should insist on reusable water bottles. Then at the end of the tournament these could be thoroughly cleaned and then donated or even sold to raise money for sporting charities. 

Evian describes itself as the Official Water of the Championships and this sponsorship deal is worth many millions to the Lawn Tennis Association but at what cost to the planet? We need to move away from single use plastic and the Lawn Tennis Association and Evian need to be part of the solution not part of the problem. 

High profile sporting events like this are a perfect opportunity to take a stand for the right cause - planet first, not profit. 

Will you join me in calling for Wimbledon to stop this deal and insist Evian supply reusable drinking water bottles if they want to continue the sponsorship or choose a different sponsor. We can all make a difference and organisations need to show they care and not greenwash us with recycling schemes but instead take actions that really put the principle of planet first on centre court.
