Stop Prescription Drug Price Gouging
As reported in the news, a prescription drug called Daraprim was bought by a company called Turing Pharmaceuticals increased the price overnight from $13.50 to $750 a pill... a 5,550 percent increase.
Daraprim, known generically as pyrimethamine, is used mainly to treat toxoplasmosis, a parasite infection that can cause serious or even life-threatening problems for babies born to women who become infected during pregnancy, and also for people with compromised immune systems, like AIDS patients and certain cancer patients.

Having access to this drug could mean the difference between life or death. $750 a pill would make the drug unaffordable and inaccessible to people who don't have insurance.
This is just one example of Prescription Drug Price Gouging which American citizens are being subjected to.
The signers of this petition DEMAND that legislation be passed as soon as possible to stop Prescription Drug Price Gouging and to make it illegal to raise prices on a prescription drug by more than 50% after the rights has been purchased by another entity.
Drug prices in general are higher in the United States than any other country in the world and that is WRONG. We therefore also DEMAND international open market access to Prescription Drugs so Americans can buy Prescription Drugs from any country in the world.
