Skipping improving schools city-wide in favor of implementing the same standards already properly in place at many other schools, so that all use the same subjective standards, is not the answer before doing everything possible to give those taking the test a more level playing field.

The current open and then close, open and then close has created a lot of confusion for our children and there does not appear to be any light at the end of the tunnel! And then to top it off the "officials" have no denied hard working students, the right and the privilege of achieving the status they have worked so hard for. Specialty schools belong to the higher achievers who have worked hard to get there!!!

Schools should have a sibling policy to help families build communities and not be so stressed with multiple schools for their children.

There should be standards/requirements to get into specialized programs. Children and parents work hard for it.

Gaining entry into the merit-based or talent-based specialized schools in NYC is an important option for many NYC families. DiBlasio’s misguided plan to eliminate testing into them will be a travesty for everyone. What good is it to kill the small handful of these schools when the system educates a million kids? How does killing LaGuardia (the ‘Fame’ school) and killing the hopes and dreams of a talented few benefit a million kids? Political machinations will ruin the NYC public school system.

Cancelling the grades and the tests promotes laziness and glorifies mediocrity

No matter how little you study, or how little you know, you are still “outstanding”
