Jun 19, 2014 — I am writing to update you regarding the experiments conducted at Rhode Island Hospital in which piglets were given excessive doses of alcohol for cardiovascular research.
I recently learned from the president and CEO of the hospital, Dr. Timothy Babineau, that these experiments concluded in 2012 and have not occurred since. Dr. Babineau was very cooperative in providing information.
Recent scientific publications suggested that the experiments were still ongoing, and the hospital had previously not responded to inquiries.
It was only because of your many e-mails that we were finally able to confirm this. Thank you for your concern and participation.
As a result of our efforts, the hospital now knows how concerned the public is about the use of animals in experimentation.
Thank you for making that possible.
