- Abortion has been practiced since the 1500s. Egyptians used an herb as a contraception method that was driven into extinction due to the frequency with which they used it. Furthermore, the Greeks would encourage women who didn't want to carry to term to undergo rigorous activity, herbs, or other dietary and physical changes to enact a miscarriage.
- FETUSES ARE TECHNICALLY PARASITES: they act in such a way that is similar to a parasitic species, they rely on their host to survive, avoid expulsion, and give the host symptoms of illness.
- Pro-lifers encourage incredibly misogynistic values when attempting to outlaw abortion, it shows that people care more about ensuring that women use their lives to bring a child into the world than live a life at all. And if the women do manage to survive childbirth, they will have to spend the rest of their miserable lives raising the monster that society and the US government forced them to bring into this world. This type of logic has no place in modern politics.
- What happens to the children that would have otherwise been aborted? Chances are, they won't live glamorous lives. They might be forced into a crowded orphanage for the rest of their lives, jumping from foster home to foster home in search of parents, before eventually giving up and accepting the idea that they will never be happy. Children in the foster care system are 4 times more likely to both think about and attempt suicide. Another possible outcome for these children would be to be raised by their birth parents, or chances are just their mother (or her parents, in the likely instance where she is too young to raise the child herself). This life seems fairly normal, right? Wrong. Chances are the women who are unable to travel for abortion are either immigrants, struggling financially, or disabled. These same women would struggle to work, raise a child, and keep their homes. And what happens if the child learns that they were unwanted? Would you rather a child live a life of struggle knowing that their mother didn't want them than not be born at all?
- The criminalization of abortion will not stop the practice of it entirely. Women who can afford it will go out of state or even out of the US to get a safe abortion (or safe relative to the alternative). Even those who do not have the resources to travel will still try dangerous, illegal abortions.
- The ninth amendment should not allow this law (overruling Roe v. Wade) to go in place; "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people." ("Constitution of the United States,” amend. 9 sec. 1). Essentially, rights that are not listed do NOT BELONG TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, they belong to the citizens. This includes the right for a woman to choose whether or not to have an abortion.
- Animals can naturally have abortions, humans have just evolved (or devolved depending on how you look at it) to not be able to without medical procedures. This shows that abortion is a NATURAL process, NOT MURDER.
