This week, the administrators at Merritt College told our teachers and department chairs that they are planning to cancel all the Arboriculture classes for the Spring Semester. This will make it incredibly difficult for students to finish degrees and certificates in a timely manner (if ever, if they continue to cut classes), as well as negatively impacting teachers, assistants and the Landscape Horticulture program altogether. Given the huge demand for trained arborists in CA due to wildfires and more, this program is incredibly important for job placement, and one of the only programs offering an AS in Arboriculture in California. Please sign this petition to demand that administrators do not cut our classes, so we can attain the degrees and certificates the department needs to continue to get funding!!
