The current Canadian government has shown the world that they are completely out of touch with reality inside our borders. These Liberal politicians are not trained in firearms safety yet speak to the country as if they are experts. They have been using the United States and THEIR gun violence against Canadians for too long. Regardless of whether you’re an owner of firearms or not, these tragedies effect us all the same. Not a single person wants to see a child or teen hurt by a firearm, but again, we are not the United States and we have some of the most strict firearms laws in the world.

Justin Trudeau has made it very clear that he does not understand the laws that he himself had a part in putting in place, such as: federally regulated license acquisition, Nationally enforced firearms purchase laws, and publicly upheld safety regarding firearms owners and their actions, such as what we have in Canada.

He will go on national television and declare gun violence among Canadians is out of control, and that AR-15 rifles are to be feared and banned because they “look scary”. He most recently went on to say that airsoft guns are now the problem, and that handgun sales to law abiding, license holders are also the problem. Law Abiding, rule following, license holders are not the problem. This failure on the Liberal Governments part should not have the blame passed along to it’s people.

What he is not telling you is that there hasn’t been an AR-15 used in a murder case in Canada in over 30 years. He’s not telling you that Canadians have access to a wide variety of semi-automatic hunting rifles which do the exact same thing as an AR-15, they just look different. What he isn’t telling you is that Canadians already have strict gun laws that ban fully automatic firearms which the United States allows. He’s also not telling you that Canadians hunting firearms magazines are limited to 5 rounds and can not be modified. What he isn’t telling you is that the gun violence he speaks of is most often gang violence where people are using illegally smuggled weapons, and are not registered license holders. He’s also not willing to admit to you that his current attempts to improve over-border gun smuggling is a failure and is how these gang members are getting their firearms.

What he isn’t telling you is that there’s no correlation between airsoft/BB/Pellet gun usage and gun violence in Canada, but he is willing to tell you that it should also be banned. Handgun ownership in Canada is a registration based ownership program. Current laws restrict ownership to a separate license from rifles and shotguns, but a handgun must be registered to its owner, and is only allowed to be transported in a locked case to/from an approved range which you have membership at. The people holding these licenses, owning these registered firearms and transporting them responsibly are NOT the problem.

The truth is that the RCMP constantly scans any and all registered firearms license holders files for criminal records. If you are charged with or convicted of any kind of violent crime in your adult life, it is highly unlikely you’d qualify for a license. PAL holders are constantly under the public, government and social eye as anyone can report an issue with a person misusing a firearm, or report someone they suspect is mentally unfit to have access to firearms.

Attempting to hide the liberal government failures by blaming the people who follow their rules and punishing them further is unjust. We NOT the United States, we do NOT have loose firearms ownership and acquisition laws. We do NOT have the same level of mass shootings and gun violence as the United States does, and we never will.

Most importantly, please consider signing this petition if you want the Liberal government to focus its attention on illegal gun smugglers, illegal possession of firearms and strengthening our fight against gang violence. They have wasted Millions if not Billions of dollars blaming those who follow the rules and support gun ownership safety, and enough is enough. This bill is simply a further choke hold on responsible citizens and as previous amendments have shown, it will not help the issues of gang violence or gun violence in Canada.
