Stop Building the Cell Tower Next to Our School

We, the undersigned, value the scenic view from and around Stonebrae and feel that a 100 foot cell tower in the Stonebrae development near Stonebrae Elementary school would substantially harm the scenic quality of this unique area and negatively impact perceived property values.

More importantly, legitimate concerns for potential negative health consequences of a cell tower near Stonebrae elementary school and the community have been published in the medical community. For example, a recent publication in the Internation Journal of Cancer Prevention showed a 4 fold increase in cancer among people living within a 400 meter radius of a cell tower. New homes are being built immediately adjacent to the proposed cell tower location and most of the community including the school are within the 400 meter radius of the tower.

This cell tower will obstruct and tarnish the views of the Bay, be an eyesore to the community and have potenially hazardous consequences to the health of the community and children attending Stonebrae elementary school.

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders, the City of Hayward, Verizon Wireless, Stonebrae Homeowner's Association, and Stonebrae, L.P. to act now to prevent the erection of a 100 foot cell tower (and/or removal of similar devices) on or near Stonebrae Elementary school and the community.  In Verizon's application, they proposed 3 additional locations in this region. We respectfully petition the City of Hayward, Verizon Wireless, and Stonebrae L.P, to consider these additional locations which are farther than 400 meters from the community.
