Stop Bend City Counsel From Placing Homeless Villages On Residential Properties In Bend
Why this petition matters
Central Oregon Villages, in partnership with the City of Bend, is seeking to lease two acres of land at Desert Stream church to set up a temporary 20 cabin village for the homeless. A single property separates the proposed development from my backyard, as well as the backyards of neighbors. As a father of two, I purchased my home in this community because it was safe. If this development continues, I feel we will see an increase in crime and violence, a decrease in safety for our kids, and an overall negative impact on our neighborhood. A similar homeless village in Portland was just closed because the operators said the conditions were too dangerous. I realize that there is a homeless problem, but I don't think the solution is to build this development in the middle of our neighborhood. If you are not okay with temporary housing for the homeless in our backyard I urge you to contact CO Villages, Bend City Council, and sign the petition below.
