The protection of children from sexual abuse should be more important than retail sales.

I'm tired of people trying to make themselves and others comfortable viewing women as dumb objects with no value other than their bodies. They should take the product of their disgusting, twisted psychologies elsewhere and go die in a hole

Honey Birdette has recently moved into our local shopping centre here in Cairns. Before I even saw this petition, I was sickened to see the window display of this establishment. There is a limit and these people have reached it and gone right over the line. Accusations that those who object are prudes or 'middle aged' or religious addicts are incorrect and only point to this businesses abject lack of ethical responsibility. Displays depicting women in outfits best suited to sex slaves in a bondage dungeon is so completely tone deaf to the prevailing protests and conversations about violence against women both domestically and on the streets. Perhaps the Honey Birdette business owners are unaware of the very real connection between images of pornography and sexual violence against women? Perhaps they are completely clueless as to the impact sexualised images of women on young boys and young girls? For gods sake you do not have to be a prude or a zealot to be against this sort of window display- you just need to be a loving parent, aunty or uncle who don't want children to grow up in a world where women are not seen as humans but playthings available for sexual pleasure.

Sexualising women is not okay, it is not normal and should be illegal to advertise.

Pornography is violence against women; it also entraps men in addiction and is harmful to the whole community. Porn has many indirect victims of sexual assault and sexual violation. I worked for years is this field. People should boycott the company and mall and speak up loudly against this degradation and dehumanisation of women.

I am seriously concerned about children being subjected to these images in shopping centres.
