Our Belizean youths and all our athletes need to be supported and encouraged in pursuing the sport of their choice.  The recent murder of Chis Rodrigues brought to the fore a public policy the Belizean population did not know about, except those directly affected!  So now that we know that our youths and athletes are being forced to find money to pay a fee, just to use a sporting facility, we must act now!   In Belize income tax is a whopping 25% of the salaries of workers who reach the threshold … that is the rate used in other countries such as Germany where education and medical services are 100% free!  Also sporting facilities are freely available because at 25% tax rates there is no way citizens should be paying for these public amenities!

Let not the death of football player Chris Rodrigues be in vain as his blood was shed on the football field of Norman Broaster Stadium, Cayo District, Belize over the enforcement of a $15.00 per hour fee that should have never happened!   We cannot bring him back, but we can ensure not another youth needs to be burdened with such a fee and that no youth can ever be turned away from using any public sporting facility in this country! 

Demand that the government and the National Sports Council, remove requirements for any fee by individuals and our struggling sporting teams as well … access to sporting facilities is a social Justice right … a right to a well rounded wholesome life! Your signature here can make a difference!
